

Eileen Hitt, 88 of Coventry, formerly of Cranston, passed away February 5, 2018. She was the beloved wife of the late F. Roland Hitt. Born in Providence, she was the daughter of the late Augustino Ambrosino and Mary (Waters) Ambrosino and sister of the late Louis and William Ambrosino. Eileen retired from St. Gregory Church, Warwick in 2015 at the age of 85 after over 30 years as Parish Secretary and Bookkeeper. She was a former co-owner of Peerless Display in Providence with her husband, her late brother Louis Ambrosino and sister in law and best friend the late Theresa Ambrosino. She was founder and first President of the Ladies Auxiliary for the Knights of Columbus, Bufford Council in North Providence and an active member of St. Gregory the Great Church, Warwick, where she served as a Eucharistic Minister. Eileen was the mother of three sons, Richard (Helen), Robert (Virginia), and Kevin (Kathleen). She is also survived by her seven grandchildren, Robert Jr., Rebecca, Matthew, Meaghan, Daniel, Kelsey and Lauren and two great grandchildren, Henry and Evelyn, brother in law Vincent Hitt, of Baltimore, Maryland and sister in law Delores Ambrosino, of Coventry. Her funeral will be held on Saturday at 8:30 am, from Russell J. Boyle and Son Funeral Home, 142 Centerville Road, Warwick, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00, am in St. Gregory the Great Church, 360 Cowesett Road, Warwick. Visitation, Friday 4 – 8 pm. Burial will be in St. Ann Cemetery, Cranston.
