Eleanor L. McKenna

Eleanor L.(Shears)McKenna, 88, of Coventry, passed away Friday, April 20, 2012 at the Avalon Nursing Home, Warwick. She was the wife of the late Eugene A. McKenna.Born in Providence, she was the daughter of the late Benjamin and Florence (Shearing) Shears. Eleanor has resided in Coventry for the last 20 years.She was employed as a clerk-typist at Amica Insurance Company for 25 years before retiring and then at Wal-Mart for 5 years. She was a member of American Legion Auxiliary and Old North Road Tenants Association.Eleanor is survived by her granddaughter, Mary Elizabeth Sargent, and her husband Adam of Coventry; and two great grandsons, William A and Nicholas J. Sargent and two half brothers. She was the mother of the late Judith A. Clarke.Her funeral will be Wednesday morning at 8:45 am from the Russell J. Boyle & Son Funeral Home, 142 Centerville Road, (Route 117) Warwick. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 am in SS. John & Paul Church, South Main Street, Coventry. Burial will be in Rhode Island Veterans Cemetery, Exeter. Visiting hours Tuesday 4-7 pm. In lieu of flowers, donations to SS.
