Eleanor L. Pistacchio

Eleanor L. (Mainelli) Pistacchio, 85 of North Providence, passed away peacefully on September 18, 2023, surrounded by her loving family. She was the beloved wife of Joseph F. Pistacchio, to whom she was happily married for 65 years.

Born in Providence, Eleanor was the daughter of the late Domenico and Christine (Mezzanotte) Mainelli. A graduate of Mount Pleasant High School, Eleanor was employed at the Providence Gas Company and later at Mainelli Tool and Die.

She leaves behind four children: David Pistacchio and his wife Doreen of Narragansett, RI; Michael Pistacchio and his wife Anne of Leland, NC; Julie Ferreira and her husband Arthur of Taunton, MA; and Jennifer Brennan and her husband Todd of Westerly, RI. Eleanor was also the grandmother of 10 and sister of Robert D. Mainelli and his wife Stella.

An avid sports fan, Eleanor was a team mother for the North Providence West Girls Softball League. She also served on the PTA at the former Lymansville Elementary School.

Her visitation will be held Sunday, September 24, 2023 from 3:00 – 6:00 p.m. from the Pontarelli-Marino Home, 971 Branch Avenue, Providence.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial on Monday, September 25, 2023 at 9:30 a.m. in Mary, Mother of Mankind Catholic Church, 25 4th Street, North Providence. Burial will be private.
