
FRANK, ELEANORE (LEWENBERG), 86, passed away peacefully May 4, 2012 at the Philip Huilitar Hospice center. She was the wife of the late Melvin Frank and the late Stanley Simon. Born in Brookline, MA she was the daughter of the late Maurice and Jennie (Sacknoff) Lewenberg. A lifelong resident of Providence, she was a graduate of Hood College, Frederick, Maryland. Ellie worked as a fashion buyer for Macy's, an interior decorator and a metal sculptress. Her volunteer activities included Casa (child advocate for state of RI), serving as a docent at RISD Museum, and serving as vice-chairwoman of Israel Bonds. Ellie was always a voracious reader and loved art. Her art activities extended over many years, painting, sketching and finally her life-size metal sculptures, now on permanent display at Prov. Art Club Sculpture Garden. She leaves 3 children, Leslie Simon Haduch and her husband Rick of Warwick, RI, Laura Mainelli and her husband Michael of Lake Mary, FL, and Moshe Simon and his wife Janette of Jerusalem, Israel. She was the beloved grandmother of Joel and Rachel Haduch, Jennifer, Michael, and Peter Mainelli, Pessya, Bayla, Yonathan, Ysacher, Goldie, Shayna, Asher Mordechai, and Raisie Simon, and one great granddaughter Dakota Mainelli. She was the sister of the late Richard Loring. The funeral service will be held Monday, May 7th at 10am at Sugarman-Sinai Memorial Chapel, 458 Hope Street, Providence. In lieu of flowers, contributions in her memory may be made to the charity of your choice. Shiva will be observed at Laurel Mead, 355 Blackstone Blvd., Providence, on Monday and Tuesday, 7-9pm.
