

Elizabeth A. Swen, 58, of Providence, passed away on Friday, September 18, 2015 at Rhode Island Hospital. She was born in Monrovia, Liberia to the late Pitman Swen, former Director of Interpol in Liberia, and Mary (Weah) Watson, a former diamond dealer. Elizabeth loved children and was the owner of Elizabeth’s Preschool and Home Day Care for the past 26 years and had a degree in Early Childhood Development. Previously, she was the president of the Krao Association of RI and active within the Liberian community. She enjoyed a good laugh, playing ludo, and was always willing to help those in need. She was also an active member of Calvary Baptist Church. She leaves behind her children, Oluremi A. Nurse, Marlon D. Nurse (son-in-law), Nathaniel L. Kwapo, and Kona S. Boylowlu; her siblings, Freeman Summerville, Samuel Swen, J. Tanneh Swen, Evelyna Harris, Thomas Watson, Pitman Swen, Jr., Pitmana Swen Baity, and Cheryl Swen Scott; her three grandchildren, Shaniha Nurse, Marlon Nurse, Jr., and Aaron Nurse as well as numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins. She is also predeceased by her son, David Kwapo and her brother, Jerry Swen. Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend a funeral service on Saturday, September 26, 2015 at 10:00 am, which will take place at Calvary Baptist Church, 747 Broad Street, Providence, RI 02907. Interment will follow at the North Burial Ground, 5 Branch Avenue, Providence, RI 02904. Visiting hours are respectfully omitted. Arrangements are under the direction and care of the Russell J.
