Providence Ellen M.Mahoney, 96, of Gentian Avenue, died peacefully Wednesday afternoon, December 26, 2012, at the Elmhurst Extended Care Facility. Born in Bansha, Co. Tipperary, Ireland, she was a daughter of the late Jeremiah and Mary Ann (Allen) Mahoney. Ellen was a nurse's aide at Our Lady of Fatima Hospital, North Providence, for many years before retiring, and was a faithful communicant of Saint Augustine Church. She leaves three nephews, Thomas J. Kelly, with whom she lived, of Providence, Jeremiah Mahoney and Patrick Mahoney, both of Ireland; and a niece, Philomena Dolan, of Athlone, Ireland. She was a sister of the late Patrick D. Mahoney and Elizabeth M. Kelly. The funeral will be held Monday, at 9:00 am, from the Russell J. Boyle & Son Funeral Home, 331 Smith Street, Providence. Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 am in Saint Augustine Church, 639 Mount Pleasant Avenue, Providence. Burial will be in Saint Ann Cemetery, Cranston. Visiting hours Sunday, 2 - 5 pm.
