

Emilia (Espinal) Taveras,90, of Providence passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her loving family on Thursday, November 11, 2010. She was the beloved wife of the late Angel M. Taveras for over 60 years.
Born in San Jose De Las Matas, Dominican Republic, she was the daughter of the late Emilio and Carmen Espinal. Emilia immigrated to Brooklyn, New York in 1967 and moved to Rhode Island in 1971. Emilia worked at Esposito Jewelry and Rolo Manufacturing. She was a communicant of Assumption Church.
Emilia leaves 12 children, seven sons, Ramon, Rafael, Angel, Juan, Francisco, Polibio, and Jose Taveras, and five daughters Carmen Monsanto, Rosa Hernandez, Ana Silvia Fonseca, Angela Taveras and Ana Luisa Checo. She was the devoted grandmother of 44 grandchildren, 51 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great-grandchild. Her grandchildren will miss her laughter, sweetness and animal crackers.
Her funeral will be held Monday at 8:45 a.m., from the ROMANO FUNERAL HOME, 627 Union Avenue, Providence, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. in Assumption Church, 791 Potters Avenue, Providence. VISITATION SUNDAY 4-7 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in her memory to the Assumption Church, 791 Potters Avenue, Providence, RI 02907 or the Rhode Island Community Food Bank, 200 Niantic Avenue, Providence, RI 02907 would be appreciated.
