She was the beloved wife of the late Walter Hildebrandt, the daughter of Alena A. Johanson and Frank Walter Eklof, and the sister of the late Frank A. Eklof (Violet), the late Edward A. Eklof (Sybil), Arthur W. Eklof, and Linda Eklof Read. Emma is survived by her four children, George V. Peloso Jr., David W. Peloso, Dianne M. Miller, Oscar A. Stedman, and her three step-daughters, Pamela J. Brandt, Linda B. Menard, and Deborah A. Hildebrandt. She has ten grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren, one one great-great grandson, Jacob Walter Peloso.
Emma graduated from Gorton High School, Warwick, RI, in 1946. She worked for the Outlet Co. as a cashier, followed by the Fleet National Bank until retirement. Emma and Walter made their home in Burrillville, RI, and then enjoyed traveling around the United States in their RV for eight years after retiring. After their travels, they settled in Englewood Florida, where Emma continued to live until Hurricane Ian destroyed her home in 2022 and she moved back to Rhode Island to be with family.
Emma was a champion Duckpin bowler for many years. She also enjoyed sewing, crocheting, cake decorating and many types of crafts, as well as playing scrabble, Rummikub, and cribbage. Emma blessed hundreds of lives with her smiles, crocheted scarves and afghans, and her special hand-embroidered angel cards. She was granted her final wish to just go to heaven and be with Walter.
To her family and friends, Emma would say, “Bye-bye for now”.
A Celebration of Emma's Life will be held on June 29, 2025, at The Ranch in West Greenwich, RI.
