Providence Ernest G. Olsen, 90, of Jefferson Street, died Thursday at Philip Hulitar Hospice Center. He was the husband of the late Roberta (Blackstone) McGuinness Olsen. Born in Providence, he was a son of the late Sven and Jenny (Nelson) Olsen.Ernest worked on the Emergency Response Unit at T.F. Green Airport for many years before retiring. He was also a veteran, who served honorably in the United States Air Force.He leaves a granddaughter, Jennifer L. Newman, several nieces, including Claire Carraher and Joan Jelinek, and his son in law, Kenneth E. Newman. He was the father of the late Meredith C. Olsen and was pre deceased by several brothers and sisters. His funeral service will be held on Monday, at 10:00 am, in the Russell J. Boyle & Son Funeral Home, 331 Smith Street, Providence. Burial will be in North Burial Ground, Providence. Visiting hours Sunday, 2:00 -4:00 pm.
