Born on June 4, 1940, in the West End of Providence, she was the daughter of the late Antonio and Marion Cipolla. She grew up in an Italian household where everyone spoke Italian. There was always luscious Italian food being prepared in the kitchen, and the trampling of grapes to make wine could be heard in the basement.
She attended the Broadway Methodist Church, where she and her twin sister, Yolanda, taught Sunday school and often played the organ or piano for the church choir. After graduating from high school, Evelyn worked at AT&T for many years. She took pride in sharing her Italian heritage with her co-workers, teaching them that the Italian word for napkin or handkerchief is mopine.
Evelyn enjoyed going out for lunch, especially to the Shepards Tea Room. She and her sister, Yolanda, loved to travel and had visited all fifty states. They especially enjoyed Nashville, TN, for its music, and New Orleans, LA, for its music and food. When visiting Hawaii, Evelyn decided to stay for a while and took a job teaching people on bus tours of the island all about Pearl Harbor.
Evelyn loved people and was always ready with a kind word and a wink in her eye.
Her funeral service and burial were private.
