Fernando Cortes, 51, of Providence, passed away on Thursday, September 21, 2017 at Roger Williams Medical Center. Born in Brooklyn, NY om February 24, 1966, he was a son of Margarita (Mercado) Cortes and the late Ismael Cortes. Fernando loved music and enjoyed movies. He is survived by his children, Fernando Cortes, Jr., Margarita M. Cortes, Cynthia M. Cortes, and Keyshia M. Cortes, and step son, Pedro L. Rodriguez, Jr.; three brothers, Ismael, Mario, and Anthony Cortes; a sister, Cynthia M. Cortes; and three grandchildren, Jissely Jewels, David Alfredo Maldonado, Jr., and Adriana Viveiros. His funeral will be held on Friday, September 29, 2017 at 8:45 am, from the Russell J. Boyle & Son Funeral Home, 331 Smith Street, Providence. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 am, in Saint Patrick Church, 244 Smith Street, Providence. Interment will be in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, East Providence.
