Smithfield Florence L. Allen, 95, of Courtland Place, Austin Avenue, Greenville, died Wednesday at home. She was the wife of the late Thomas E. Allen, and companion of the late Leo Waterman. Born in Providence, a daughter of the late Charles and Florence (Chippendale) Payne, she lived on Isabella Avenue in Providence for many years before moving to North Providence for several years, and then Greenville for the past four years. Florence was a secretary for the Restaurant Employees & Bartenders Union, Local 285, for many years before retiring. As a young woman, she owned a restaurant on Block Island for several summers. Mrs. Allen leaves three nieces, Janice DiPrete of Cranston, Barbara Martin of Florida and Judith Strutsby of Texas. The funeral and burial will be private. Arrangements by Russell J.
