The trumpets sounded, the choir sang out and the angels opened the heavenly gates to welcome Florence F. Armenti, who left this world on Tuesday, July 12th, 2022, at the age of 90. Her mother and father, Angelina and Nicholas Cerio, along with her beloved husband Louis were there to greet her. Her brothers Nicholas and Frank as well as sisters Margaret and Dolores proceeded her.
Her Children who were her greatest pride, Louis N. Armenti, Patricia (Michael) Grandchamp and
Anthony (Dorothy) Armenti are forever blessed to carry the spirit of their mother in their hearts.
Her most import role in life was that of “Gammie” and “Mimi” to her grandchildren, Zachary, Madisen,
Amber and Nicholas. Spending time with her grandchildren was always a joy, especially in the kitchen
and on holidays. She cherished the years of their growth to adults with the magic touch of her wisdom
affecting them all.
She also leaves behind her sister Jacqueline (Glen) Ciano and many nieces and nephews.
Florence had several friends and touched so many lives. To have known her was a blessing. She had a
sense of humor, a gift of gab and a non-judgmental attitude towards others. Florence was one of a kind
and will be missed by all who knew her.
After she retired, Florence attended church several days a week, was a frequent participant at the Johnston Senior Center taking day trips to plays, restaurants, and just spending time with her friends. She had the good fortune to travel to Italy. Florence was actively involved in church activities at Holy Cross Church in Providence that included participating in the Ladies Guild and the church choir. She also supported her community by serving as an election warden during state elections.
Her funeral will be held Monday at 8:45 AM from the ROMANO FUNERAL HOME, 627 Union Avenue, Providence followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 AM in Holy Cross Church, 645 Hartford Avenue, Providence. Burial to follow in R.I. Veteran Cemetery, Exeter. VISITATION SUNDAY 4-7 PM.
Please honor her request of no flowers as she remarked “if you didn’t send me flowers while I was living then don’t send them after I die.” In lieu of flowers please make donations to HopeHealthCo.org in Florence’s memory.
