Born on May 19, 1932, in the Silver Lake section of Providence, she was the daughter of the late Luigi and Maria “Jenny” (Girardi) Franco. Frances developed a strong work ethic at an early age, beginning in her teens sweeping and cleaning local stores. She went on to dedicate many years to R.E. Sturdy, where she skillfully assembled and prepared jewelry for plating. In the early 2000s, she retired to devote more time to the people she cherished most, her family.
Frances was the beloved mother of Frank DeCorpo and his wife Debbie, Dennis DeCorpo, and the late Marie DeCorpo, Antonetta Holmes, and Anthony DeCorpo. She is also survived by her son-in-law Kenneth Holmes. She leaves behind her loving siblings Marie, Rosa, and Donald, along with her cherished grandchildren: Charles, Michael, Dennis, Denise, Kenny, Stacey, Frankie, and Johnny, as well as many great-grandchildren who brought her great joy.
She was predeceased by her first husband, Albert DeCorpo; her second husband, Joseph Howard; and her siblings Anna, Richard, John, Connie, Katie, Eleanor, Edward, Virginia, Harry, Thomas, Louie, and Margaret.
Frances will be remembered most for her boundless love and generous spirit. She was the steady and comforting heart of her family, always ready with a listening ear, thoughtful advice, and a warm embrace. Whether celebrating life’s milestones, hosting cherished holiday gatherings, or simply sharing stories, she had a way of making everyone feel welcome, accepted, and deeply loved.
Her presence was a gift, and her memory will forever be a source of strength and comfort to those who knew her.
Her visitation will be held on Friday, June 26, 2026, from 9:30-11:00 a.m., followed by Funeral Home service at Romano Funeral Home, 627 Union Avenue, Providence. Burial will follow at St. Ann Cemetery in Cranston.
