
Francis L. "Pete" Palmer, 77, of Castleton, died peacefully with his family at his side on Sunday, August 19, 2012 at St. Peter's Hospital. He was the husband of Leslie (Smith) Palmer, they were married for 53 years. Born in Providence, R.I., he was the son of the late Frank and Madeline (Hughes) Palmer. Pete was employed for 37 years as a civil engineer for the NYS Department of Transportation, retiring in 1999. He was a communicant of Sacred Heart Church.Besides his wife he is survived by his sons, Mark (Karla), Richland, N.Y., Keith "Tee" (Laura), Castleton, Scott (Deirdre), Charlton, Mass. and Glen (Michelle), Clarksburg, W.Va.; grandchildren, Steven, Gregory, Kathleen, Timothy, Ryan, Michaela, Matthew, Rebecca, Jonathan, Kristen, Christian, Nicholas, Nathaniel, Mary Claire and Madeline; a sister Maureen (John) Hanrahan, Hopewell Junction, N.Y.A memorial Mass will be celebrated Saturday, September 29th at 5:15 p.m. in St Mary, Star of the Sea Church 864 Point Judith Rd., Narragansett to which relatives and friends are invited. Contributions in Pete's memory may be made to Sacred Heart Church, 3 Catholic Way, Castleton, N.Y. 12033 will be appreciated. A reception will follow, in Liliana's Restaurant "Holiday Inn" 3009 Tower Hill Rd., South Kingston.
