Frank R. “Butch” McRoberts, 88, passed away on November 2, 2026. Born in Johnstown, PA, a son of the late James, Sr. and Dolores (Halapia) McRoberts. He was the beloved husband of June V. (Haun) McRoberts; devoted father of John “Jack” McRoberts (Melissa) and Michael “Mike” McRoberts (Carla) and cherished grandfather of Braeden Hadley and the late Hailey Ferrante. He was also the brother of the late James McRoberts.
Butch was a meter reader for the electric company before retiring, and he had served in the US Marine Corp.
Butch will be remembered as a loving father, grandfather, devoted family man, and a friend to so many. For 60 years, he spent his summers in Galilee, a place that held a special place in his heart, where he cherished time with family and friends, especially his beloved granddaughter, Hailey. He shared countless summers and memories with his lifelong friend, Brian Handrigan, at Champlin’s.
An avid runner for many years, Butch continued walking well into his 80th year, becoming a familiar and beloved face to anyone who traveled Smithfield Avenue, always ready with a friendly wave. He proudly cheered on his Yankees and Green Bay Packers and loved coaching his two sons in Little League and Babe Ruth baseball, as well as coaching Michael in Fairlawn Flag Football.
Butch treasured the simple pleasures of life, whether enjoying a cup of coffee with friends or spending years bartending part-time at Hannibals, Sportmans, and The Westside, where he built lasting friendships and shared many laughs.
Above all, Butch loved his family and friends, and his warm spirit, friendly smile, and unforgettable presence will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him. His memories will forever live on in the hearts of those he leaves behind.
