

He was the son of the late Nicholas and Josephine (Pedi) Zammarelli; former husband and friend of the late Rhonda (Olink) Zammarelli; father of Zachary Zammarelli; brother of Louis Zammarelli, Esq. (Mary) and Nicholas Zammarelli, Esq. (Lisa); uncle of 5 nephews and 3 nieces.
Frank graduated from Providence College in 1977 with a Bachelor of Arts Degree. He furthered his education at Northeastern University where he was awarded a Master’s Degree in Criminology.
He soon thereafter joined the Providence Police Department where he served the people of the city for 21 years eventually earning the rank of Inspector in the city's Special Investigation Bureau. As head of this unit, Frank worked with many local police departments as well as the Federal Government. He was respected by all who had the honor of working with him, often being recognized for his hard work and dedication. The friends he made during these years remained lifelong friends well after he retired. After retiring from the police force, he continued his passion for the City of Providence by becoming the Operations Manager for the Providence Downtown Improvement District.
Frank's passion for baseball was with him until the end, spending countless hours watching the game he played and loved. He loved his family and friends, having many a good laugh while sharing a drink with them. His infectious personality was his calling card and his memory will live on forever to all those who were fortunate enough to know him.
Visitation will be held Tuesday, 4-7 p.m. and Wednesday, 8:30-10 a.m. with a funeral service at 10 a.m. in the PONTARELLI-MARINO Home, 971 Branch Avenue, Providence. Burial will follow in St. Francis Cemetery, Pawtucket. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Frank’s memory to Hope Hospice & Palliative Care, 1085 North Main Street, Providence, RI 02904.
