Born in Jersey City, NJ, he was the beloved son of Rosa (Altomare) Di Giovanni and the late Ignazio Eugene Mongelli. Fred was the brother of Rita Mongelli-Garton, John Mongelli and his wife Linda, Thomas Mongelli, and Dolores Wolfe and her husband Dan. He was the Uncle to Michele, Lisa and Chloe Mongelli, and Diana and Danny Wolfe.
Fred was a gentle, quiet, and humble soul. He loved playing his trumpet and the guitar, participating in the school band and all music in general. He was unusually inquisitive, and a good student. As a youth, one of his favorite places to stop on the way home from church was a place he named Bubbling Springs. One of Fred’s favorite phrases was “Thank you, please,” which will live in our hearts forever. He brought warmth and love into every room he entered and touched the hearts of many. He will be deeply missed by all his family and friends.
Visitation will be held Friday, 9:30-11:00 a.m. followed by his funeral service at 11:00 a.m. in the PONTARELLI-MARINO Home, 971 Branch Avenue, Providence.
