Throughout his life, Bob was known for his piercing blue eyes, big smile, and ability to look far younger than he was. He was a builder by trade, a true “Bob the builder,” that could fix anything. He loved, cruises, motorcycles, golf, and being a builder. After an accident that left him paralyzed from the waist down his hobbies shifted. He enjoyed puzzles, caring for his plants, soaking up the sun any chance he got, and most of all having visitors to share a meal with.
A Vietnam veteran, Bob felt the effects physically and mentally because of his sacrifice. Most of which remained unseen by many. As one of his nurses said, “He’s been through so much, but he refused to be a victim.” He had the privilege of being cared for by the amazing staff at West Roxbury VA Medical Center following his accident before moving to RI Veterans Home Community Living Center in Bristol, RI. The Buitta family is eternally grateful to the staff that saved Bob’s life and cared for him these last 7 years, especially in his hardest days.
Bob is survived by his wife, Carlene Buitta. He is also survived by his loving children, Nikole Russo, Tara Buitta, Dana Buitta and Robert Buitta. He cherished every moment spent with them and was proud of the individuals they became.
Services will be held privately for his immediate family.
