Born to Alberte Raymond and Armand Molenat in Paris, France on March 30, 1939, Georgette grew up in her family’s restaurant business. The Molenat’s owned many establishments in and around Paris where she worked, and that experience eventually led her to America.
In 1969, she bought West Side Pizza in Worcester, Mass. after seeing a classified ad for the business. The success of that business led to the purchase of a second pizza restaurant, and then her own restaurant, Kite’s in Grafton, Mass., that she ran with her brother Alain.
In 1971, on a night out in Boston with her girlfriends, Georgette met John F. Smollins at Gino Cappelletti’s Point After nightclub. The two were married in Providence on Memorial Day weekend in 1972 and their only son, John-Pierre, was born in November of 1973. The couple were married for 49 years before John’s passing in 2021.
After a fire severely damaged Kite’s, Georgette raised her son before moving into the Real Estate business. After receiving her license, she worked for over 25 years for DiBiase Associates, Jack Quirk Realtors, Coldwell-Banker Gold, and Exit Realty, before retiring.
A life-long parishioner at St. Augustine’s Church, Georgette was involved in many school activities when her son was attending school.
Georgette is survived by her son, her brother, Alain Molenat of Port Grimaud, France and her nephews, Marc and Pascal Molenat. She is also survived by her cousin Josette Bringer and her son Luc.
