Geraldine "Gerrie" Elizabeth Coen

Geraldine E. “Gerrie” Coen (McGrath) 84, of North Providence, died on Saturday, March 10, 2018 at Mt. St. Rita Health Centre. She was the beloved wife of the late Richard M. Coen, Sr.Born in Providence, the daughter of the late John A. and Irene (Miley) McGrath.She was employed at Verizon for thirty years.Gerrie was a devout catholic. She was a former communicant of Saint Augustine Church, where she served as a Sacristan for many years, and for the past three years was a communicant of Saint Pius V Church.She was a graduate of St. Francis Xavier Academy, Class of 1951 and a member of the St. Francis Xavier Alumnae Association. She was on the executive board for many years, serving as recording secretary, corresponding secretary, and financial secretary. Gerrie was an avid reader and loved to knit, making many hats for newborns at Women and Infants Hospital.She is survived by her three daughters, Meredith A. Santangelo (Steven) of Cumberland, Elizabeth M. Rossman (Joseph) of Mansfield, TX, and Annemarie Feldman (David) of Morristown, New Jersey; her son, Richard M. Coen, Jr. (Roberta) of Cumberland; her precious grandchildren, Nicholas Santangelo, Michael Coen, Jack and Meghan Feldman, and Ryan and Kathleen Coen; and great granddaughter, Aubrey Richmond; and many nieces and nephews. Gerrie was also the sister of the late Alice Canning, John “Jack” McGrath, and Marjorie Sullivan.A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, March 15, 2018 at 10:00 am, in Saint Pius V Church, Eaton Street, Providence, to which relatives and friends are invited. Burial will be private. Visiting hours will be on Wednesday, March 14, 2018 from 5:00 to 7:00 pm, in the Russell J. Boyle & Son Funeral Home, 331 Smith Street, Providence.
