Glennroy Hope Foster

Glennroy “Glenn” Hope (Webber) Foster, 93, passed away peacefully surrounded by the love of her family. She was born on December 9, 1932, in Coventry, Rhode Island, to Winford and Leona (Porter) Webber. The youngest of nine children, she was predeceased by her siblings Kenneth Porter, Marvin Webber, Carl Webber, Theo Sargent, Lillian Fisher, Arlene Paul, Delores "Dodie" Campbell, and Beryl Flanigan. On November 15, 1958, Glenn married the love of her life, David Preston Foster of East Greenwich, Rhode Island. They shared nearly 60 years of marriage before David's passing on January 27, 2018. She is survived by her three sons, David Foster Jr. (Donna), Phillip Foster (Jennifer), and James Foster (Ann); her grandchildren Bailey Picariello (Chris), Brittany Taylor (Philip), Alyson Foster, Mollie Foster (Savannah), Jackson Foster (Allison), Luke Foster, and Abigail Foster; her great grandchildren Brady Foster, Eva and Poppy Cain, Grant Picariello, Kennedy and Kasey Foster, and Samuel Foster. She was predeceased by her granddaughter, Gillian (David) Cain. She also leaves behind many cherished nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends.

One of Glenn's first jobs was at Lord's Jewelers, where she developed a lifelong love of fashion and style. She fondly remembered the kindness of the store's owners, who let her borrow jewelry on weekends. With her natural grace and impeccable style, Glenn was crowned Miss Coventry at the age of 19. She attended Bryant College and worked as a telephone operator for the Sun Oil Company in Providence. She later became a teller at Industrial National Bank in Barrington before retiring after a long career with AMICA Insurance. A devoted member of St. John's Episcopal Church in Barrington, Glenn volunteered for many years at the Encore secondhand store. She was also a member of the Rhode Island Country Club and the Barrington Garden Club. Whether on the golf course, at the card table playing Bridge or Pitch, or fiercely competing in a game of Rummikub, Glenn brought enthusiasm, laughter, and just the right amount of competitive spirit.

She treasured time spent with her siblings and extended family in Coventry and loved making memories at her second home in Harwich Port, Massachusetts. Glenn and David later retired to Venice, Florida, where they enjoyed more than 15 wonderful years together. In recent years, she returned to Rhode Island and made her home at Atria Bay Spring Village in Barrington. Above all, Glenn was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, aunt, and friend. She loved bringing people together, whether it was for a lobster roll, a day at the beach, or a spirited game of cards. Her warmth and unwavering love for her family will be deeply missed and forever remembered.

A private Funeral Mass and interment will be held for the immediate family.
