

Goldie Gitlin, age 99, of North Dartmouth and Palm Beach Gardens, passed away Wednesday, June 10, 2026 at St. Luke’s Hospital after a brief illness. She was the loving wife of the late Edward Gitlin and mother of the late Mark Gitlin.
Born in New Bedford, a daughter of the late Jacob and Bessie (Portnoy) Abesh, she was a lifelong resident of the area.
A graduate of Bryant College, Goldie was a bookkeeper at Morton Shoe Company before her marriage. Goldie was a life-long member of Tifereth Israel, Hadassah and the Sisterhood, where she served as financial secretary. She was an avid golfer and tennis player.
She is survived by her two daughters, Barbara Green of Sharon and Rebecca Eisenberg and her husband Martin of New York and her daughter-in-law, Marilynn Gitlin of Barrington, RI; grandchildren, Sara Green and her husband Josh Gan, Jessica Eisenberg and her boyfriend Evan Chubak, Kara Gitlin and her fiancé Stephen Cavallo, Suzanne and her husband Michael Ziegelbaum, Ethan Gitlin, Jack Eisenberg and his wife Maya Katalan and Josie Gitlin; two great-grandsons, Dean Edward Ziegelbaum and Max Arthur Ziegelbaum. She was also the sister of the late William Abesh and mother-in-law of the late David Green.
A graveside service will be held Sunday, June 14, 2026 at 11:00 am in Plainville Cemetery, 1400 Old Plainville Rd., New Bedford.
Shiva will be at the family’s home from 4:00 to 5:00 pm on Sunday.
