Gregory D. Sirota, age 82, of Providence and Narragansett, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, September 13, 2021 at South County Hospital in Wakefield. He was the loving husband of Dora Z. (Pynoos) Sirota.
Born in Odessa, Ukraine, a son of the late David S. and Revekka M. (Zemlynskay) Sirota, he immigrated to the United States in 1978.
He met his soulmate Dora at the age of 14. Through thick and thin they were inseparable. Together they immigrated to Rhode Island with their two children and Dora’s parents. In the U.S. Gregory pursued various lines of work and ultimately opened Gregory’s Optical. Relatives and friends could count on Gregory for his leadership, support and extraordinary moral compass. An avid reader, he always enjoyed discussing politics and was very passionate about being and living near the ocean.
In addition to his wife Dora, survivors include: two children, Michael Sirota of Barrington and Anya Sirota and her husband Jean Louis Farges of Narragansett and Michigan: three grandchildren, Leon Sirota, Sonya Bella Sirota and Zioma Farges-Sirota; one sister, Dora Slootskin and two nephews.
Relatives and friends are invited to his funeral service Wednesday, September 15, 2021 at 11:00 am at the Redwood Chapel in Swan Point Cemetery, 585 Blackstone Blvd., Providence. Burial will follow.
Arrangements are in the care of Sugarman-Sinai Memorial Chapel.
