

WARWICK - DUFFY, Harriet E. (Whalen), 68, of Saxony Drive, died peacefully Wednesday at home after a brief illness. Born in Ossining, NY, a daughter of the late Thomas and Gertrude (Baker) Whalen, she had lived in Warwick for the past 44 years. Harriet was the beloved mother of Elizabeth Ann (Duffy) Ferland of Coventry, Dianne Michelle (Duffy) Roberts of Warwick, John Michael Duffy of Attleboro, MA, and her lifelong foster son Roderick L. Pasqual of Warwick. Besides her children she leaves her best friend and sister Mary Katherine Whalen of Warwick and her three grandchildren Justin and Courtney Ferland and Julia Duffy. Harriet was a communicant of St. Gregory the Great Parish, and was one of its earliest parishioners. She had worked in various parochial positions since 1972. She retired as the Director of Religious Education at St. Kevin Church in Warwick in 2005. Prior to her retirement, she had also worked in various part time positions at Kent Hospital. She was very active in the J. Arthur Trudeau Memorial Center and most recently served on the Center's Board of Trustees. She was a tireless advocate for the disabled and physically impaired. Her funeral will be Saturday at 8:45am from the Russell J. Boyle & Son Funeral Home, 142 Centerville Rd., Warwick. Concelebrated Mass of Christian Burial at 10am in St. Gregory the Great Church, 360 Cowesett Rd., Warwick. Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery, West Greenwich. Visitation Friday 4-8pm. In lieu of flowers donations to the J. Arthur Trudeau Memorial Center, 3445 Post Rd., Warwick, RI 02886 in her memory will be appreciated.
