

Providence Hazel I. Sacchetine, 93, formerly of Providence, died Wednesday evening, November 20, 2013, at the Westview Nursing & Rehabilitation Center in West Warwick. She was the wife of the late Chester Sacchetine. Born in West Medway, Massachusetts, a daughter of the late Charles and Anna (Grant) Desper, she lived on Zone Street in the Smith Hill neighborhood for many years. Hazel worked in the Dietary Department of the Nickerson House Community Center in Providence before retiring. She also had been a private housekeeper for the owners of the former Butler Chevrolet Automobile Dealership. She was a longtime communicant of Saint Patrick Church, Providence. She leaves two daughters, Phyliss Sacchetine and Sheila Martin; two sons, Joseph Sacchetine and Stephen Sacchetine; a sister, Marion Verdecchia; five grandchildren, ten great- grandchildren, and ten nieces and nephews. She was a sister of the late William E. Desper and grandmother of the late Lisa Marie Barrios. The funeral will be held Tuesday, at 9:00 am, from the Russell J. Boyle & Son Funeral Home, 331 Smith Street, Providence. Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 am in Saint Patrick Church, 244 Smith Street. Burial will be in Notre Dame Cemetery, Pawtucket.
