Irene Agnes Boisse, age 88, passed away peacefully on August 4, 2022. Born in Central Falls, she was the daughter of the late Daniel and Irene (Bouchard) Leedham. She was the beloved wife of George Boisse for 68 years.
Irene is survived by her husband George and their five children: Karen Murray, Susan McVeigh (Michael), Donna Smith (Kenneth), Raymond Boisse, and Elizabeth Boisse.
She was a devoted and loving grandmother to her 11 grandchildren and loving great-grandmother to 16 great-grandchildren.
She was a sister of the late Doris McDonald, the late Lucille Vincent, Frances DiMuccio, and Daniel Leedham.
Irene was a communicant of Sacred Heart Church where her children attended school. She worked a variety of part-time jobs while raising her family. She was a tireless worker and enjoyed meeting new people. She and her husband never missed an opportunity to travel. Her home was the center for all holidays and she loved spending time with her family.
Irene retired to Florida and enjoyed many years of relaxation by swimming, reading, traveling, and playing Bocce with her community of friends. She cherished the many visits from her grandchildren. The births of her 16 great-grandchildren lured them back to Rhode Island permanently.
Irene shared an incredible bond with her loving husband, George, until her last breath. She had a generous heart, a welcoming smile and an infectious laugh. She will be dearly missed by all who knew her and especially by her loving family.
Relatives and friends are invited to a visitation with the family on Tuesday from 10-11:00 a.m. in Saint Anthony Church, 1413 Mineral Spring Avenue, North Providence, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 a.m. Burial will be private.
