Cranston Irene W. Murray, 89, of Stony Acre Drive, died Tuesday, April 20, 2010, at Woodpecker Hill Nursing Center, Coventry. She was the beloved wife of the late Nicholas E. Murray. Born in Pawtucket, she was a daughter of the late Ernest and Tryphena (Jane) Peters. Irene was a machine operator for the Texas Instruments Company for many years, retiring in 1984. She also worked for several years as a crossing guard for the City of Providence., and was a volunteer foster grandparent at the Smith Hill Early Learning Center. She leaves a daughter, Barbara M. Costabile and her husband David; a son, Paul E. Murray and his wife Marilyn; six grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, and two brothers, George Peters and Ernest Peters. She was pre-deceased by her son, John F. Murray, and several brothers and sisters.` The funeral service will be held Thursday morning, at 11:00 am, in the Russell J. Boyle & Son Funeral Home, 331 Smith Street, Providence. Burial will be in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, East Providence. Visiting hours Thursday morning will begin at 9:00 am, prior to the service.
