

James T. Coughlin, 85, of North Providence, died Tuesday, December 15, 2020 at Heritage Hills Nursing Home from complications of COVID. He was the beloved husband of Nancy A. Coughlin who recently passed away in October.
Born in Providence, he was the son of the late John and Regina (Coutanche) Coughlin.
James is survived by his beloved children, William J. Coughlin and his wife Leah, Maureen N. Aubin and her husband John, Susan E. Coughlin, James T. Coughlin, Jr. and his wife Jacqueline, Andrew S. Coughlin and his wife Danielle, and Ellen C. Coughlin. He leaves behind his five grandsons: Christopher, John, Scott, Corey, and Matthew as well as many nieces and nephews. He was the brother of Mary Donnelly, as well as the late Dr. John Coughlin, Charles Coughlin, and his twin sister Sr. Regina Coughlin.
James worked for the Providence School Department at Hope High School for over thirty-five years. He loved going for breakfast with his wife of over fifty years. He cherished many summers at Bonnet Shores with family and friends. He was extremely proud of his five grandsons who affectionately called him “Poppa”.
Due to COVID restrictions at this time the burial will be private. There will be a memorial mass at a later date.
