

WarwickJames M. Howe, 84, of Cowesett Road, died Tuesday at home. He was the beloved husband of the late Elizabeth (Taylor) Howe.Born in Providence, he was a son of the late Merton and Grace (Hein) Howe. Mr. Howe was self employed in the home improvement business for many years until retirement. A 1943 graduate of LaSalle Academy, he starred in Varsity Track in hurdling, then continued his education at Providence College. An avid golfer, Jim was a member of Montaup Country Club, Portsmouth, for twenty-six years, and was the Seniors Division Champion in 1993. As a member of Potowomut Golf Club, Jim scored sub-par rounds on several occasions, and was the Govenor Cup Champion in 1968. Jim's other passion was music. He was a natural entertainer, and could often be found playing the piano at local nightspots, including the "Music Room", and was also a talented songwriter. He leaves three daughters, Judith L. Lavin, and her husband, John B. Lavin, Elizabeth A. Howe and Deborah M. Howe; two grandchildren, Vincent J. Pennacchio and Ciro J. Lotito, III; and a nephew, Donald J. Plummer. The funeral service will be held Saturday morning, at 10:00 am, in the Russell J. Boyle & Son Funeral Home, 142 Centerville Road, (Rt117) Warwick. Burial will be in Mount Saint Mary, Pawtucket. Relatives and friends are invited and may call Saturday morning from 8:00 am to 10:00 am. In lieu of flowers donations to the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinsons Disease, Church Street Station, P.O. Box 780, New York, NY 10008 in his memory will be appreciated.
