

James “Jimmy” L. Madison, 78, passed away March 29, 2018. He was the husband of the late Jacqueline E. Madison. Born in Providence, he was a son of the late James L. Madison and Carrie (Morrison) Husband.
James was the loving father of Renee I. Smith and her husband Melvin L. Smith, Sekina M. Terry and her husband Alan T. Terry, Sekina A. Dyer and Michael Madison; grandfather of 16 and great-grandfather of 22. He was the brother of James “Sonny” Walker, Thomas, Robert, Ronald, Ruth, Constance and Patricia Nance and Paul Williams. He was predeceased by his son James R. Madison, his sister Thelma Penny Nance-Fancher and his step-mother Ann Nance.
James served in the U.S. Army active and reserves as a sergeant first class/E7 for over 36 years. As an avid motorcyclist, he was a member of the motorcycle club Road hawks and has a passion for cars as well as motocycles. He was also a Mason and a member of the Otha Boone Elks Lodge #931. Previously residing in Spring, Texas, he was a member of the Above and Beyond Fellowship Church, where he was baptized and accepted Jesus as his Lord and Savior in 2013. He had a great love for his family, music and dancing.
A celebration of life memorial service will be held Saturday, April 7th from 1:00-5:00 p.m. in the Masonic Temple, 883 Eddy Street, Providence, RI 02905. Burial with military honors will be private in the Rhode Island Veterans Cemetery, Exeter. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hope Hospice & Palliative Care, 1085 North Main Street, Providence, RI 02904.
