
COVENTRY - MCDERMOTT, James H. Jr., 75, died Sunday at the Riverview Healthcare Community. He was the husband of the late Nancy J. (Casey) McDermott. Born in Providence, a son of the late James and Ruth (Robbins) McDermott Sr., he had lived in Coventry for the past 46 years. Mr. McDermott was a carpenter for General Dynamics in Groton for 30 years before he retired in 1992. He later worked at the Coventry Credit Union. He was an Army veteran of the Korean War, where he earned two bronze stars. He was also a life member of the D.A.V. He is survived a son Kevin J. McDermott of Montville, CT; two daughters Maureen K. Jendzejec and her husband Charles, and Patricia A. Lavoie and her husband Christopher all of Coventry; his sister Mary Lou Cowan of Troy, MO, and three grandchildren Ryan J. and Kaitlyn M. Lavoie and Rebecca L. Jendzejec. He was the brother of the late John E. McDermott, Sr. His funeral will be Thursday at 7:45am from the Russell J. Boyle & Son Funeral Home, 142 Centerville Rd., Warwick. Mass of Christian Burial at 9am in SS. John & Paul Church, 341 South Main Street, Coventry. Burial, with military honors, will be in Rhode Island Veterans Cemetery. Visiting hours will be Wednesday 5-8pm.
