

James Squadrito, 83, passed away peacefully at home, May 5, 2015. Husband of Virginia (McGuy) Squadrito. Born in Pawtucket, he was the son of the late Frank and Lena (Barresi) Squadrito; father of Susan Moran and her husband Martin III; step-father of Kimy McGuy; grandfather of Kerryn and Kaleigh Moran and Brianna McGuy; brother of Salvo, William and Frank Squadrito and the late Mary Ann Maciocio and Philip Squadrito.
He had served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He was the owner and operator of the Eagle Park Independent Club for over 30 years. He was an avid sports enthusiast, all sports, his entire life. In his youth, he had been both an amateur and professional boxer. He was the RI State Amateur Welterweight Champion before turning professional. He also had a great love of horse racing and owned thoroughbred horses for many years. Always a Rhode Islander, he lived in North Providence, East Providence, Bristol, Barrington, and most recently Providence.
He enjoyed the times spent with his grandchildren and they always put a smile on his face.
Visitation and funeral will be held Tuesday at 9:30 a.m. followed by a service at 11:00 a.m. in the PONTARELLI-MARINO Home, 971 Branch Avenue, Providence. Burial with military honors will follow in St. Ann Cemetery, Cranston. Please omit flowers.
