

Jean M. Hannaway, 84, of Narragansett, and formerly of Providence, passed away Saturday, August 30, 2014 at the Apple Rehabilitation Center in Watch Hill, RI. Born in Providence, she was the daughter of the late Walter F. and Teresa J. (Kelly) Hannaway. Jean has been a resident of Narragansett for the last 14 years. She was employed as the executive secretary in the U.S. Attorney's Office in Providence for six years, and previously as the executive secretary in sales for the American Enka Corporation for 25 years. Jean was a scholarship recipient and graduate of Saint Patrick High School, and graduated from the Katharine Gibbs School in Providence. She is survived by her devoted sister, Claire E. Masson and her husband Joseph of Narragansett. She was a beloved aunt to her nephew Jay Masson and his wife Maureen of East Lyme, CT, and her niece, Lynn M. Masson of Narragansett. Jean was also a cherished great-aunt of Reagan and Kevin Masson. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Wednesday, September 3 at 10:00 am, in St. Mary Star of the Sea Church, 864 Point Judith Road, Narragansett, to which relatives and friends are invited. Burial will be private in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, East Providence. Visiting Hours Tuesday 4-6 pm in the Russell J. Boyle & Son Funeral Home, 142 Centerville Road, Warwick. In lieu of flowers, donations to Visiting Nurses, 14 Woodruff Ave, Narragansett, RI 02882 in her memory will be appreciated.
