Born in New London, Connecticut, a daughter of the late Henry and Jean (Lavigne) Maxson, she spent her youth in Warwick before moving to Cranston to raise her children. Jean received an Associate’s Degree in education and was a teacher at Crayons Early Care and Education Center for many years. An avid beachgoer, she enjoyed going to East Matunuck Beach and she especially enjoyed spending time with her family.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by her two sons, Matthew Wilkes and his wife Dayna of East Greenwich and Benjamin Wilkes and his fiancé Stephanie Gill of North Easton, Massachusetts; two sisters, Libby Pray and her husband Bruce and Meg DeNinno and her husband Paul all of Cranston; one grandson, Henry Thomas Wilkes, one granddaughter on the way and many nieces and nephews. She was the sister of the late Starr Maxson.
Visitation hours are on Monday, March 25, 2024 from 4:00 to 7:00PM in the Russell J. Boyle and Son Funeral Home, 142 Centerville Rd., Warwick, RI. Her burial will be held on Tuesday, March 26, 2024 at 11:00 AM in River Bend Cemetery, 117 Beach Street, Westerly. Contributions in her honor may be made to the J.
