Jeffrey Michael Schenker
July 30, 1947 – April 2, 2021
SCHENKER, JEFFREY MICHAEL of Somerset, Massachusetts, passed away on Friday, April 2, 2021. Jeffrey was a loving, caring, and thoughtful husband, father, papa, and brother. He is survived by his beloved wife of 47 years, Janet (neé Cyr) Schenker, as well as their two children and their families: son Jason Schenker and his wife Ashley of Austin, Texas, and daughter Sarah Gousie, her husband Dana, and their son "Little Jeffrey" of Smithfield, Rhode Island. Although geographically distanced, Jeffrey Schenker was emotionally close with both of his children and their families.
Jeffrey grew up in Fall River, Massachusetts, and received a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration, with a major in Accounting from Northeastern University. He did co-op at Northeastern and after graduation worked as a field agent with the Internal Revenue Service. After leaving the IRS, Jeffrey joined his father Sidney in public accounting, he earned his CPA designation, and he became a respected accountant and businessman in the Fall River area. After working for over 50 years, Jeffrey retired earlier this year to focus on his health.
Jeffrey was a tremendous provider and he always helped his family whenever they needed him. He gave his children university educations, paid off his house, and took his family on memorable vacations. He also gave two dozen red roses to his wife Janet every anniversary.
Jeffrey was very proud of his children and he showered them with generous and frequent praise. He was comforted greatly by their support at the end of his life. Together with his grandson, Jeffrey Gousie, the late Jeffrey Schenker was one-half of the dynamic duo known in the family as "the two Jeffries." He was a very proud "papa."
Son of the late Sidney and Selma Schenker of Fall River, Jeffrey is also survived by his sister Maxine Schenker, for whom he oversaw care. Jeffrey was preceded in death by his late brother Kenneth Schenker, who died from complications associated with Down's Syndrome.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in Jeffrey’s memory to the Special Olympics to honor his late brother, Kenneth.
A graveside burial will be held at Monday, April 5th at 10:00am in Temple Beth-El Cemetery, 4620 N Main St, Fall River, MA 02720.
