MICKELSON, JILL MELISSA, 51, No longer enduring her valiant life-long battle with multiple medical issues, Jill passed peacefully on February 17, 2020. Born in New Bedford, she was the daughter of Judi (Crock) Mickelson and Stanley Mickelson.
She is Survived by her parents, Judith Mickelson and her husband Paul Cromwell and Stanley Mickelson and his wife Kala Joblon; her step-sister Shawnte Paris and Shawnte's children and grandchildren, many dear aunts, uncles, and cousins. She was predeceased by her beloved brother, Scott Mickelson and her grandparents.
Jill was a member of Tifereth Israel Congregation, the Special Olympics Bowling League, Project Independence Boomers Club.
Jill exceeded all early expectations for longevity and potential with determination and stubbornness. Jill lived life to the fullest with courage and resilience throughout her illnesses, defying and beating all odds.
On April 9, 2016 Jill was honored with the annual Personal Achievement Award by the M.O. Life agency that provided most of her care. Jill was very appreciative of this recognition.
Jill cherished her friends and caregivers from MO LIFE, Project Independence, The Nemasket Group, Fairhaven Village, and the Special Olympics Bowling League: She enjoyed going to ceramics, Bingo at Fairhaven Village and schmoozing with her friends.
Jill was an avid Boston Red Sox and Boston Celtics fan. Jill loved the color purple. Please wear purple to her service to honor Jill.
In addition to Jill's personal caregivers, special thanks to the Hospice Team of Southcoast VNA for the exceptional care and compassion in easing Jill's final journey.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, February 19th at 10:00 AM at Tifereth Israel Synagogue, 145 Brownell Ave, New Bedford, MA with burial to follow in Plainville Cemetery, New Bedford. In lieu of flowers, contributions in her memory may be made to the Mickelson Children Memorial Scholarship Fund (fbo B.H. Ziskind Hebrew School). Checks payable to Tifereth Israel Congregation 145 Brownell Avenue, New Bedford, MA 02740 referencing the Mickelson Fund.
