Joan M. Iacono

Born in Providence, Joan was a cherished daughter of the late James F. O’Connor and Elizabeth A. (Gilhooly) O’Connor. Joan was a graduate of St. Francis Xavier Academy and attended Rhode Island College.

Everyone who knew Joan will remember her as a kind, funny, and creative woman. Her artistic spirit shone through in her watercolor paintings and the many crafts she enjoyed making with her children. A true Rhode Island native, she treasured her summers on the beautiful beaches along the coast. In addition, Joan loved to travel, cook, and enjoy her morning coffee while solving a Sudoku puzzle. Above all, Joan adored the time she spent with her family and friends. She also had a special love for dogs and delighted in the companionship of the many she cared for throughout the years.

Joan is survived by her beloved children, daughter Michaela Iacono and son Cameron Iacono; and by her sisters, Susan Hayden and her husband, Tom, Barbara O’Connor, and Louise Wilcox and her husband, Paul. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews and devoted childhood friends.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend her visitation on Tuesday, September 8, from 8:30–10:30 AM at the Russell J. Boyle & Son Funeral Home, 331 Smith Street, Providence, RI 02908. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 11:00 AM at Holy Name Church, 107 Camp Street, Providence, RI, with burial to follow at St. Ann Cemetery in Cranston.

The family wishes to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the entire staff at Saint Antoine for their devoted and compassionate care they showed Joan, along with her family.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Joan's name to the Activities Center of the Special Care Unit at Saint Antoine Residence located at 10 Rhodes Ave, North Smithfield, RI 02896.
