John Edward Corrigan, Sr., 83, of Blackstone Boulevard, Providence, Rhode Island, passed away on Sunday, June 5, 2022. He was the beloved husband of the late Margaret Mary (Hanley) Corrigan. They were married for 45 years.
Born in Providence, he was the son of the late Francis Vincent Corrigan, M.D., and Mary Catherine (Goggin) Corrigan.
Mr. Corrigan was a 1956 graduate of La Salle Academy and went on to graduate with his bachelor's degree from Providence College in 1960. He was drafted into the United States Army, serving from 1961 to 1963, including time in Vietnam. In his professional life, he was a certified public accountant; he worked in a private firm and public agencies and established loan servicing businesses.
Mr. Corrigan is survived by his two sons, John E. Corrigan Jr., Esq., of Providence and Paul F. Corrigan of Santa Monica, CA; Paul’s wife Barbara of Santa Monica, CA; his two grandchildren, Grace Margaret Corrigan and Henry Paul Corrigan of Santa Monica, CA; and his brother, Donald W. Corrigan, and his wife Eileen of Gaithersburg, MD. He is also survived by sisters-in-law Arlene (McAteer) Corrigan of Providence; Carole (Jones) Corrigan of Silver Spring, MD; Anne (Gerardi) Corrigan of Norfolk, VA; and his brother-in-law Henry J. Hanley Jr. and his wife Sheila of Pawtucket, RI. He also leaves a sister-in-law, Mary Irving (Hanley) Lee, of Newburyport, MA. Mr. Corrigan was brother to the late Francis V. Corrigan, Jr., Thomas J. Corrigan, and James J. Corrigan. He was also brother-in-law to the late Jonathan Lee of Newburyport, MA.
The funeral will be held on Tuesday, June 14, 2022 at 8:45am from the Russell J. Boyle & Son Funeral Home, 331 Smith Street, Providence. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. at the Church of Saint Sebastian, 67 Cole Avenue, Providence. Graveside burial will follow in Saint Ann Cemetery, Cranston.
