

Cranston- Kenney, John R., Esq., 86, of Olney Arnold Rd., passed away Saturday at his home. He was the husband of Phyllis M. (Hoxsie) Kenney and the late Mary(Gallagher) Kenney.Born in Westerly, he was the son of the late Michael and Julia (Carey) Kenney.John was a retired attorney for the State of Rhode Island. He was a longtime CLCF coach and an avid Red Sox fan. He enjoyed golf, playing the organ, gardening and spending time with his family.He graduated from La Salle Academy in 1940, Providence College in 1946 and Boston University Law School in 1949. He was a World War II Army veteran. He was a member of the American Legion.Besides his wife, he leaves four sons, Michael Kenney, Edward Kenney and his wife Joanne, James Kenney and his wife Jean, Thomas Kenney and his wife Andi, four stepsons, Rick MacDonald and his wife Cheryl, Stephen MacDonald, David MacDonald and John MacDonald and his wife Dawn, two stepdaughters, Deborah Ratcliffe and her husband Dennis and Dianne Angelone and her husband Al, seventeen grandchildren and one great granddaughter.His funeral will be held on Wednesday at 8:30am from the Russell J. Boyle & Son Funeral Home, 142 Centerville Rd., Warwick. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00am in St. Matthew Church, Elmwood Ave, Providence. Burial with military honors will be in St. Ann Cemetery, Cranston. Visiting hours, Tuesday, 5-8pm. In lieu of flowers, donations to Beacon Hospice, 1 Catamore Blvd., East Providence, RI 02914, in his memory would be appreciated.
