John Illuzzi, 85, passed away surrounded by his loving family on June 29, 2018.
Born in Providence, he was a son of the late Luigi and Fiorentina (Palmisciano) Illuzzi; husband of the late Angela (Capaldi) Illuzzi; father of John L. Illuzzi and his wife Sandra, Susan J. Guerra and her husband Thomas; grandfather of Andrew and Alexander Guerra, and Nicholas Illuzzi; brother of Mary McCaleb, Rosina Volpicella and the late Josephine Nazzaro and Florence Kloss.
John served as a Ranger in the U.S. Army. He retired as an Electrical Engineer from Corning Glass Works, accomplishing his goal of early retirement at age 59. He enjoyed spending winters in Lakeworth, Florida where his days were spent golfing with friends. He was an avid stock market investor, tracking the market daily and sharing his knowledge with others.
Visitation will be held Monday, 4-7 p.m. in the PONTARELLI-MARINO Home, 971 Branch Avenue, Providence. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial on Tuesday at 10 a.m. in Mary, Mother of Mankind Church, 25 Fourth Street, North Providence. Graveside burial with Military Honors will be in St. Francis Cemetery, Pawtucket. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Mary, Mother of Mankind Church.
