

East Greenwich Meehan, John A., 93 of Atria Harbor Hill, East Greenwich and formerly of Top St, Providence died Tuesday at Kent Hospital. He was the husband of the late Marjorie F. (Bickell) Meehan.He was born in the Fox Point section of Providence. He resided on the East Side of Providence most of his life before moving to East Greenwich two years ago. He was a Letter Carrier out of the Turnkey station for the United States Postal Service for 34 years retiring in 1980. He was a member of the United Postal Service N. A. L. C. branch 15. Johnny was devoted to his family and especially his late wife Marjorie for 55 years.Mr. Meehan had a life long love of entertaining the residents at the Meeting Street School, Little Sisters of the Poor and many elderly facilities and most recently playing the piano and accordion at Atria Harbor Hill. He is survived by two sons, John J. Meehan and his wife Dorothy J. Meehan of Cranston, James P. Meehan and his wife Susan M. Meehan of Wakefield. He also leaves four grandchildren, Erin Bayand, Brian J. Meehan, Sister Pia of Capuchin Sisters, Sean W. Meehan and the late Christopher J. Meehan. He was a brother of the late, Thomas, James, Mary, and Patricia Meehan. His funeral will be Saturday at 8:45 am from the Russell J. Boyle & Son Funeral Home 331 Smith Street. Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 am in Saint Agnes Church Chatham Street, Providence. Burial, with military honors, will be in Mount Saint Mary Cemetery, Pawtucket. Visiting hours Friday 4-7 pm.
