Providence John F. Mulholland, Sr., 71, of Doyle Avenue, died Thursday, September 25, 2014, at the Philip Hulitar Hospice Center. He was the husband of Jean M. (Higham) Mulholland. Born in Providence, he was a son of Margaret "Maggie" (Mulholland) Cullen. John was a steel worker at the former Grinnell Foundry for many years before retiring. He served his country proudly in the United States Navy, and was a Past President of the Roger Williams American Legion Post 35, Providence for many years. In addition to his wife, he leaves three sons, John F. Mulholland, Jr. and his wife Kristin, Jeffrey A. Mulholland, and Michael E. Mulholland and his wife Amy Quinn; a brother, Louie Cullen; three sisters, Arlene Anthony, Barbara Vanner, and Janice Rathbun; and three grandchildren, Amanda, Beth and Sarah Mulholland. He was a brother of the late Carol Parr, Linda Gill and Donna Cullen. The visiting hours will be held Monday, from 10:00 am to 11:30 am, in the Russell J. Boyle & Son Funeral Home, 331 Smith Street, Providence. Committal Service, with military honors, at 12:30 pm, in the Rhode Island Veterans Cemetery Chapel, 301 South County Trail, Exeter.
