John A. Soccio

January 18, 1938March 10, 2020

John A. “Jake” Soccio, 82, of Johnston peacefully passed away on March 10, 2020 surrounded by his loving family. He was the beloved husband of the late Dolores (Torti) Soccio for 45 years.

Born in Providence, he was the son of the late John and Caroline (Pisaturo) Soccio.

Jake served in the U.S. Army before starting his lifelong career in the Laborers Union 271. He loved all sports, played softball in Silver Lake and was an avid Red Sox and Bruins fan. A very humble and true family man living by his infamous quote “it doesn’t cost anything to be kind”.

Devoted to his family, he was the dear father of Deanna Forte and her husband Paul and Gina Souza and her husband Everett all of Johnston; grandfather of Brianna, Ashley, Gia, Kailey and Brandon. He was the brother of Carol Winters, Irene Cellucci, Raymond Soccio and the late Anthony and Edward Soccio and June Comeau.

His funeral with visitation will be held Friday at 8:00 AM from the ROMANO FUNERAL HOME, 627 Union Avenue, Providence followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 AM in St. Bartholomew Church, 297 Laurel Hill Avenue, Providence. Burial to follow in St. Ann Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in John’s memory to the St. Bartholomew Memorial Fund. www.romanofuneralhome.com.
