John Joseph Sulkowski, Jr., 80, passed away May 1, 2019 in Fort Pierce, Florida.

Born in Erie, Pennsylvania, son of the late John J. Sr. and Theodora (Kosin) Sulkowski; survived by his wife of 59 years Phyllis (Catalano) Sulkowski; daughters Marybeth Sulkowski and Heather Sulkowski and her husband Lance Boynton; grandsons Brandon and Justin Sulkowski; sister Constance Bierzonski and several nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his son John J. Sulkowski, III and his sister Delores Wagner.

John graduated from Erie Technical High School. Following graduation, he enlisted with the United States Navy, serving on the USS Wisconsin (BB-64) and the USS Lester (DE 1022). After serving in the Navy, he became an owner in A&A Engineering and Construction. During this period of time he attended and graduated from Johnson and Wales University.

He was active in his community by serving as a member of the Federal Hill Lions Club (Providence, RI). He served as President from 1987-1988. He was a member of Lymansville VFW Post 10111 and a member of the Destroyer Escort Sailors Association (DESA).

Relatives and friends are invited to a memorial service Saturday at 9 a.m. in the PONTARELLI-MARINO HOME, 971 Branch Avenue, Providence. Burial with military honors will be held in RI Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 301 South County Trail, Exeter. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Treasure Coast Hospice Foundation, 1201 SE Indian Street, Stuart, Florida.
