Jose A. Berganza Ramos

He was the beloved husband of Maria Elena Berganza; loving father of Erika Berganza-Cruz, Brenda Berganza-Moreno and Brian Berganza; and cherished grandfather of Toni, Anthony, Jesse, Alana, Angel, Danny, Anissa, Aubrey and Joseph.

Jose was born on June 6, 1952 in Finca El Guanaco San Pedro Pinula Jalapa, Guatemala to Jose Berganza Catu and Adelaida Ramos-Berganza. He grew up in a large family of five brother and two sisters.

He later joined the Brigada Militar Guardia De Honor en la ciudad de Guatemala where he received the rank Cabo De Infanteria.

Jose moved to Los Angeles, CA in 1976 where he met his wife, Maria Elena, in 1978. They married four months later before moving to Reno, NV where his three children and nine grandchildren were born.

Jose was a baker for many years before moving to Rhode Island and becoming the owner of Reno Janitor.

Jose enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, fishing, watching sports, gardening and family trips and was known as the king of the grill.

The family would especially like to thank the staff of VNA Care Of New England Hospice Care for their attentive treatment and the staff/family of Blackstone Academy for all the support you gave.

He touched so many lives.

Jose’s visitation will be held Wednesday March 1, 2023 from 4:00-6:30 p.m. followed by a funeral service at 6:30 p.m. in the Romano Funeral Home 627 Union Avenue Providence, RI 02909.
