

He was the son of the late Guiseppe and Maria (Magnatta) DeGiulio; husband of the late Phyllis (Lombardi) DeGiulio; father of Joseph V. DeGiulio Jr., Maryann P. McGillivray, Cynthia Krapf-Whitman and Lisa P. DelVecchio; grandfather of 4; great-grandfather of 2; and brother of John and Gerald DeGiulio.
Joseph was the proprietor of Joe’s Acorn Market on Federal Hill for 75 years and served in the U.S. Army during WWII where he was the recipient of the Purple Heart and Bronze Star. He was the President of the Federal Hill Commerce Association for many years and also served as the Chairman for the Columbus Day Parade for over 20 years. Joseph also served as a Grand Knight in the Knights of Columbus.
Visitation will be held Monday, 4-7 p.m. with his funeral on Tuesday at 8:45 a.m. from the PONTARELLI-MARINO Home, 971 Branch Avenue, Providence. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. in St. Thomas Church, 65 Fruit Hill Avenue, Providence, followed by burial with Military Honors in St. Ann Cemetery, Cranston. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital at www.stjude.org/donate.
