Joseph was the beloved husband of 49 years to Elizabeth (Donaghy) Femino. He was the devoted father of three loving daughters: Shanna Douillette and her husband, Michael; Elizabeth Medeiros and her husband, Ryan; and Amanda Sacco and her husband, Mark. He was the proud and cherished grandfather of Giada and Rocco Medeiros, and Mark J. Sacco. He is also survived by his brothers, Michael Femino and Ralph Femino.
Joseph was predeceased by his parents, Joseph and Gloria (Esposito) Femino.
Born and raised in Providence, Rhode Island, Joseph later moved to Smithfield, where he built the home of his dreams and created a life centered around family. He dedicated more than 25 years to Douglas Oil before continuing his career with the Cranston School Department as an HVAC technician, a position from which he eventually retired.
Joseph was a devoted family man who always placed his wife, daughters, grandchildren, family, and friends above all else. A lifelong craftsman and true “doer,” Joe was known for his dependability, strong work ethic, and unwavering sense of right and wrong. Stubborn at times, yet always honest and genuine, Joe was someone people could count on.
He had an extraordinary ability to fix, build, and create just about anything he set his mind to. Whether he was building his prized dune buggy as a young man, modifying anything with an engine, or constructing the family home where countless memories were made, he took immense pride in working with his hands and bringing ideas to life.
In his free time, Joe enjoyed boating along the New England coastline and, in later years, camping with his wife and their three spirited Scottish Terriers. Nothing made him happier than spending time with his daughters and grandchildren, who proudly knew him as “Papa Joe.” He especially enjoyed sharing his knowledge and skills with his sons-in-law, encouraging them to take on challenges that pushed them beyond what they thought possible.
Although his physical presence is no longer with us, Joseph’s spirit, values, and legacy will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him. His strength, wisdom, generosity, and devotion to family will continue to inspire future generations.
He will be deeply missed, forever loved, and never forgotten.
