

Joseph R Flocco , 89, passed away peacefully at his summer home in Charlestown Rhode Island on August 12, 2026, surrounded by his loving family. He was born in the Bronx, NY and was the son of the late Joseph and Irene (Mascia) Flocco. He is predeceased by his brothers Leonard and Angelo Flocco. He and beloved wife, Frances, raised his family in Amawalk (Somers) NY before relocating to Tucson, Arizona.
Joseph worked for Con Edison for 25 years and deeply valued the friendships and lifelong connections he made throughout his career. In 1982, he moved to Arizona and began a second career by founding Pequot Communications, a security and communications company. He loved his customers and took great pride in serving them with care and dedication.
Faith was central to Joseph’s life. He was a devoted follower of Christ and was active in many ways. He faithfully prayed the Rosary before daily Mass at St James chapel in Charlestown and St Pius X in Tucson.
Joseph was an active member of the Knights of Columbus council #10762 - ST Pius X and 4th Degree Assembly- Msgr. James T Webber #2152 of Tucson. He was active in the Cursillo community, volunteered at a local soup kitchen, served as a lector and Extraordinary Minister of Holy Communion at Mass, supported homeless and prison ministries.
He had an extraordinary love of music, playing guitar in church and teaching himself to play the accordion.
Joseph was also a volunteer fireman and an avid conservationist and sportsman. He loved fishing, hunting and quahogging.
Above all, the highlights of his life were his faith and his family. He found his greatest joy when his loved ones were gathered together, and his kind and caring nature touched everyone he met.
Joseph is survived by his beloved wife of 67 years, Frances; his children, Joseph Jr. and his wife Peggy, Maria Sova and husband Jim, Margaret Lamb and her husband Kevin, Annie Tully and her husband John, and Frank and his wife Kristen. Devoted grandfather of Mathew, Lauren, Tanya, Briana, Joseph, Candice, Jake, George, Irene, Kevin, Sophia, Francesca and Isabella. Great grandfather to Maxx, Paxton, Olivia, Bodhi, Elsie, Maverick, Ari and Kian.
Joseph’s life was a testament to God’s grace. His legacy of unconditional love, faith, service, and devotion to family will live on in all who knew and loved him. While his presence will be deeply missed, his family rejoices in the promise that he has stepped into eternal life with the Lord.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on August 27th at 10:00am at St James Chapel 2079 Matunuck School House Road, Charlestown ,RI.
