Joseph Thomas Martella

Martella, Joseph T. (Sonny), 79 of Viceroy Rd. Warwick passed away at home on June 16, 2007. He was the husband of Estelle (Nardi) Martella. They had been married for 61 years. Born in Providence, RI, son of the late Achille and Theresa (Ricci) Martella. He had lived in Warwick since 1962. Joseph worked as a sales representative for Weston Biscuit Company, Cains, and General Cigar Company for over thirty years. He had also owned a pizza business during his younger years. For the last fifteen years before retiring in 1986, he had worked as a courier for the Warwick School Department. Besides his wife he is survived by a daughter, Estelle Verte and her husband Louis of West Warwick, and a son, Joseph T. Martella II and his wife Louise of Warwick. He was the grandfather of Louis Verte, Jr., and Thomas, Annemarie and James Martella. He was the brother of the late Mario Martella, Josephine Duva and Rose Nestor. He was a graduate of Mt. Pleasant High School, Providence, and served in the Merchant Marine. He was a communicant of St. Gregory the Great Parish in Warwick. His Funeral will be held on WEDNESDAY at 8:45am from the RUSSELL J. BOYLE & SON Funeral Home, 142 Centreville Road (Rt 117), Warwick, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Gregory the Great Church at 10am, Interment will follow in St.Joseph Cemetery, West Greenwich.
